I've finished and delivered my Hit By A Rock remix of "Love Lies", by Mercury Prize-nominated artist Susheela Raman. Coming from her impending LP "33 1/3", a collection of freaky cover-versions, "Love Lies" was originally a song by Captain Beefheart & the Magic Band on the 1978 album, "Shiny Beast (Bat Chain Puller)".

Beautifully re-interpreted by Susheela and her producer Sam Mills, the song has now being further (and distastefully) re-interpreted by Hit By A Rock.

The remix has already attracted a lot of interest on the Dubstep scene, and was selected by top european Dubstep DJ, Bunzer0, to open his SubFM radio show on April 19th, 2007.

Susheela Raman was very pleased with the remix, and talks are now in process to enable it's release via a European Electronica/Dub label.

Susheela Raman was born in London in 1973. She grew up singing Indian classical music and began giving recitals at an early age. As a teenager she branched out into more blues-based music, which demanded quite different voice techniques. She tried to bring these streams together when in 1995 she travelled to South India to rediscover her roots by way of explorations in learning carnatic music.

Returning to England in 1997, she started to work with Sam Mills who had made a record called Real Sugar with a Bengali singer named Paban Das Baul. This record inspired her because it bridged a gap and found common ground for Indian music to be expressed to a new audience.

In 2001, Susheela Raman was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize for her album Salt Rain.

In 2005, she released her album "Music for Crocodiles" where she sings for the first time in French with the song L'ame Volatile. Her training in Indian classical music makes its presence felt with her singing "Meanwhile" (on the same album) in a raga called "Kanakaangi".
